Manchester Casting Call

Cubic Motion is currently in the process of casting expressive acting talent to generate facial animation using our proprietary technology. The movement data we generate will be used to animate characters for a console video game being developed by a AAA game studio. It may also be used by Epic Games to develop services and products, and by Epic Games’ customers in their projects.

We are actively trying to increase the diversity of our talented roster of actors and encouraging submissions from local BAME actors. It’s integral that performers are based within the Northwest with easy access to our studio, as all shoots will take place in our purpose-built recording booths on-site in Manchester. The specific nature and demands of this unique type of performance requires the artist to be proficient with ADR recording, lip-synching and have an ability to take direction well.

This casting is time sensitive as we wish to have the process finalised by January, please send your submissions in ASAP.

This is a non-union acting project with a competitive rate and flexible recording schedule aiming to allocate a substantial amount of recording time over the course of the project for each individual actor

Further information on the project can be found in the Casting Brief below. Please read through this and the Casting Privacy Notice carefully before applying.

Casting Overview

Cubic Motion is currently in the process of casting expressive acting talent with distinct and pronounced facial features that will be used to generate facial animation using our facial animation technology. The movement data we generate will be used to animate characters for a console video game being developed by a AAA game studio. It may also be used by Epic Games to create new, or develop its existing, services & products; and by Epic Games’ customers in their projects.

We are casting for a pool of voice actors for a 6-month project to record voice over audio and video footage using HMC (head-mounted camera). The actor will need to match the cadence of another actor’s voice; this is like the acting process known as ADR.

The actor would attend Cubic Motion’s studio in Manchester for regular recording sessions over the duration of the project. They will wear a head-mounted camera to record their facial performance, and headphones to listen to playback of another actor’s voice. The actor should deliver an acting performance that portrays the correct emotion via their facial expressions and perfect timing match of their mouth movement relative to the voiceover audio they are listening to.

Over the course of the project there will be a wide range of character voices to deliver acting performances for. It is likely the actor will need to deliver performances for character voices that are quite different to themselves.
Actors selected to attend the next stage of the casting process at Cubic Motion’s studio will be required to sign a nondisclosure agreement because of the confidential nature of the project. Moreover, actors selected to participate in the project will be required to sign an actor agreement and release.

We can be flexible with the length and timing of each recording session. Our typical recording process is to take breaks after every hour of shooting, and for each actor to provide between 2 and 4 hours of recording time per session.
